Trigger Point Dry Needling:
Trigger point dry needling is a popular drug-free treatment to relieve pain and improve function. It is safe and effective, aside from causing some soreness 24-48 hours after treatment. Physical Therapists gently insert tiny needles through the skin to identify the exact source of pain- “knots” or taut bands of tissue in the muscle. This triggers the muscle to respond with a "twitch", releasing the "knots" and initiating the healing process to improve your pain and function. Dry needling is not acupuncture. Those of any age with acute or chronic pain benefit. Trigger point dry needling is always used in combination with therapeutic exercise and manual therapy.
